About the Nusbaumer distillery
Anyone looking for a fine tipple in Alsace will find it at the Jos Nusbaumer family distillery. Founded in 1947, this artisanal business specializes in the distillation of brandy and the production of fruit and herbal liqueurs. Located in the valley floor of Steige, the distillery is supplied with spring water from the Alsatian Vosges Mountains, the purity of which is crucial for the production of its approximately fifty products. These are distributed exclusively through a selective network of wine merchants, delicatessens, restaurants, and private individuals.

Challenge: Finding the right sized distillation system
Rising energy prices are also a cost factor for Nusbaumer, which the company must consider. Nicolas Lombard: “It was important to us to find a system that fits our needs and isn’t oversized. At the same time, the system’s performance also has to be appropriate.”
For the family distillery, this resulted in three criteria that the new steam generator had to meet. First, the distillation capacity and thus the production volume had to be increased; second, the efficiency had to be improved; and third, the gas consumption had to be reduced.

The JUMAG steam generator met all three of Nusbaumer’s criteria and now supplies three new stills with high-quality steam. For Nicolas Lombard, the reduced electricity and gas consumption is a major advantage: “In proportion to our increased production, we have reduced our electricity and gas consumption by 50%. And this is largely due to our new steam generator, which consumes less energy.”
