JUMAG Acquires Production Division from Kern IndustrieService – Founding of Jumag Behälter- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH
Hirschberg / Heddesheim, March 2026 – Jumag Dampferzeuger GmbH has acquired key production divisions of Kern IndustrieService GmbH as part of an asset deal. The agreement was signed on March 3, 2026, and is effective retroactively as of March 1, 2026. The parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
As part of the transaction, all assets relevant to vessel and pipeline construction, as well as the entire workforce at the Heddesheim site, were taken over. Since then, business operations have been continued by the newly founded Jumag Behälter- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH. The location remains unchanged. Kern IndustrieService GmbH will continue to exist legally but will no longer carry out its previous operational activities in this specific sector.
The managing director of the new company is Markus Kern, who has significantly shaped the development of Kern IndustrieService GmbH over many years and continues to serve as its managing director. Jumag Behälter- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jumag Dampferzeuger GmbH.
With this acquisition, JUMAG is purposefully strengthening its vertical integration and securing central competencies in vessel and pipeline construction. The primary goal is to ensure the long-term availability of technologically sophisticated key components within its own value chain.
The cooperation between the two companies has already existed for many years. Since 1999, Kern has been a reliable partner for Jumag Dampferzeuger GmbH, manufacturing pressure vessels exclusively for JUMAG’s oil- and gas-fired steam and hot water generators. These include, in particular, evaporation systems used as central assemblies in JUMAG’s oil- and gas-fired steam generators. These evaporation systems are among the most technologically demanding components of a steam generator and are crucial for safe and efficient steam production.

As a specialized welding company, Kern possesses extensive know-how in vessel and pipeline construction as well as in the manufacturing of complex industrial assemblies. This expertise will be preserved through integration into the JUMAG Group and will be further developed in a targeted manner in the future.
“With this acquisition, we are securing important manufacturing competencies for the long term while simultaneously strengthening our supply chain,” explains the management of Jumag Dampferzeuger GmbH. “The long-standing and trustful cooperation with Kern provides an excellent foundation for this.”
Markus Kern adds: “The close partnership with JUMAG has existed for more than two decades. The new structure creates a reliable basis to continue and expand our joint technological competence in vessel and pipeline construction for the long term.”
In the future, Jumag Behälter- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH will primarily manufacture pressure vessels, evaporation systems, as well as pipeline and plant components for steam generators and industrial applications.
