Subsidies pay for your steam generator

Save five figures with the new JUMAG steam generator

2020 could be your biggest savings year. KfW and BAFA are currently rewarding companies that rely on energy-saving technology. In a current program, they offer subsidies of 30 percent, and even 40 percent for SMEs, for energy-optimization measures. The energy-efficient JUMAG boilers are at the forefront of this. Additions to existing JUMAG systems, such as additional economizers, are also eligible, provided they reduce energy consumption. What counts is CO2 savings. The upper limit is €500 in subsidies (€700 for SMEs) per ton of CO2 saved annually.

Can you save tons of CO2? With JUMAG, yes!

The fact that JUMAG steam generators are designed for maximum energy efficiency now pays off threefold. First, for climate protection. Second, for your energy costs. A laundry or brewery alone can save several tons of CO2 annually with JUMAG. And the government is now significantly boosting this. How does this affect you?

Dry cleaning saves around 55,000 euros in 10 years

An example: Your laundry is considering replacing a shell boiler built in 1981 with a capacity of 1 t of steam/h. The gas burner is from 1997. Previously, the exhaust heat (230°C) was not utilized, and there was no closed condensate system.

A 10-year analysis shows the following savings:

  • Energy savings of €75,000 thanks to the JUMAG boiler, blowdown tank, economizer, heat exchanger, and condensate pressure vessel
  • Grant of €35,500 for the new JUMAG DG560 steam generator

Despite the higher initial investment for a modern JUMAG boiler compared to a standard product, the total cost savings are approximately €55,000!

Is it worth replacing a functioning boiler?

In most cases, it’s worth it. You shouldn’t wait until your current boiler breaks down. Because if it were no longer functional, it’s no longer a new investment, but a replacement. To determine the savings, your new JUMAG would then be compared not with your old boiler, but with a standard new boiler. While the latter is still more economical, the subsidy in this case would be considerably lower.

How do I proceed?

First, contact your JUMAG sales consultant. The first step, even before purchasing, is to submit a savings plan to a certified energy consultant* if you wish to apply for subsidies. Subsidies are no longer available after the purchase.

We will help you find an energy consultant in your area, without obligation, who is familiar with steam generators and can calculate your savings potential. Incidentally, the consultation with an energy consultant is also financially supported (is that true?).

The subsidy can then be applied for as a direct grant from the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) or as a loan with repayment subsidy from the KfW. The energy consultant will support you in this process. At the same time, JUMAG will advise you on finding the most efficient steam generator for your business. Or, if you already have a JUMAG boiler, we can recommend components for further savings with appropriate subsidies.

Which measures are eligible for funding?

Among other things:

  • Replacement of the steam generator if the new JUMAG steam generator is more efficient
  • Measures for waste heat utilization, such as retrofitting exhaust gas heat exchangers
  • Use of residual steam
  • Insulation of pipes and valves
  • Building systems engineering (heating, ventilation, cooling), provided they serve the room conditioning for production processes

Is this funding available in other countries?

The funding programs described only apply in Germany.
